Wild Alba Tours are very lucky to be based in Ballindalloch and have access to the Cairngorms National Park and the Spey valley.
Did you know that 25% of Britain’s rare and endangered species live in the Cairngorms National Park? These include capercaillie, twin flower, pine marten, osprey, Scottish wildcat, golden eagle, red squirrel, snow bunting, lapwing, crested tit, dotterel, black grouse… and many more
Did you also know we are beside The Glenlivet estate which is part of Crown Estate Scotland. The estate has a variety of different habitats with open areas of heather covered mountains and moor, clear running burns and rivers, sheltered glens and woodlands. The countryside on the Glenlivet Estate exhibits a wide range of upland habitats suiting a good variety of breeding birds and summer and winter visitors.
Providing responsible wildlife tours is very important to us. There has been a steady increase in nature-based tourism in Scotland. The team here at Wild Alba Tours are committed to make sure that the wildlife and countryside of the Cairngorms and Speyside is not adversely influenced by the increasing number of people visit it.
Firstly we adhere to access rights and follow the Scottish Outdoor Access Code. Secondly we have signed up to the Wild Scotland Code of Practice. Thirdly we follow the Wild Scotland best practice guidance for Wildlife watching on foot and by vehicle.
